Coffee House Ep 17 and Final

AND IT IS OVER!

We’ve reached the homestretch and once again, i have another drama to add to my ever growing list of favorites and the ending could not have made me a happier camper… ^__^

And as is my habit… Once again, i will quote another famous line from one of my favorite movies entitled MEET JOE BLACK because i think it is the most fitting description to the kind of love that EunYoung and JinSoo had over their years together…

“Love is passion, obsession, someone you can’t live without. If you don’t start with that, what are you going to end up with? Fall head over heels. I say find someone you can love like crazy and who’ll love you the same way back. And how do you find him? Forget your head and listen to your heart. I’m not hearing any heart. Run the risk, if you get hurt, you’ll come back. Because, the truth is there is no sense living your life without this. To make the journey and not fall deeply in love – well, you haven’t lived a life at all. You have to try. Because if you haven’t tried, you haven’t lived.”

Nuff said!

Theirs is the kind of love that really tested the boundaries of sanity… They drive each other crazy and yet they also can’t live without each other…

They have gone down the safe way in the past which was to try and overanalyze their relationship and then keep a safe distance from each other because of what was in their head but in the end… THE HEART WON OUT!

And i love how it happened! JinSoo might have seem as if he defied all logical explanation by doing what he did but come to think of it, no plan was as brilliant as the one he pulled off!

I really tip my hat off to the writer and PD of this series… Although from the very beginning there was no doubt in my head that this was an EUNYOUNG JINSOO lovestory, i still like how they have managed to always come up with surprises… That this is not a typical KDrama which was Boy meets girl, falls in love, breakup then get back together but rather they showed a side of a matured relationship where sometimes you have to choose between feelings or self preservation…

Others might say that if the PD would have gone all the way with this scenario then Seung Yeon would be the rightful choice for a leading lady because she is unexpected but i beg to disagree… Seung Yeon is very typical KDrama heroine material… Bumbling, awkward, a little gullible but with a heart as vast as the ocean… How many of those have we seen in dramas of old and more recently? A DIME A DOZEN…

Now, EunYoung …she’s an altogether different character, she’s scarred… hurt but still so strong and independent… A true leading lady that can give the leading man everything she’s got and not just in the mouthing off category… Now, how many Kdrama leads are there like her? Not so many… Isn’t she then more unexpected?

(Not to mention that PSY and KJH’s chemistry is off the charts they’re practically oozing with it…)

I have also heard that there were some complaints about how Eunyoung and JinSoo’s past remained incomplete but to me just one line from JinSoo during episode 17 when he visited EunYoung at home completed the whole picture and put the pieces of the puzzle together…

When he asked her if she’s happy about marrying JiWon because he doesn’t want her to get married to a person she doesn’t love sincee he also made the same mistake…It all became clear to me then…

That JinSoo had really loved Eunyoung for the longest time but still got married to her best friend despite that fact because he felt that it was the right thing to do…The exact same reason why his guilt over her death is really so big because he feels as if it was his fault that he made her unhappy by making that decision…

That if only he could have changed things from the very beginning and he would have been true to his feelings then there was no cause for him to cause her sadness because he confronted the truth that he can’t reciprocate the kind of feeling she’s given him…

That’s also the reason why he has to stay away from EunYoung because being with her validates that exact reason… That he will be eaten with guilt more if he stays with her because he will live a happy life while his wife suffered a life of sadness which eventually ended in death…

Staying away from EunYoung is his way of atoning for that guilt…But in the end, the page had to be turned…

JinSoo can’t be on Page One forever and when he came back, that was the cue that he had moved on… That now, he was ready to grab his second chance at love, life and Eunyoung and he is ready to start his PAGE TWO…

The scene when Eunyoung got sick made me cry… I love the lines the most… about how it’s so basic… so in the moment and yet it was fraught with hidden innuendoes and double meanings and my heart ached for Eunyoung right at that very moment…

I can understand the hesitation to go with JinSoo despite the fact that she might have an inkling that he came back for her… After all, she can’t redo her life for the past two years just because he suddenly appeared when all along she thought that he would never return… It took another wake up call and that moment of realization with JinSoo proving how much she really meant to him before she accepted the fact that he’s in it for good this time… By convincing her that he’s changed by doing things that he would never have normally done if he was the same person when he left… (I like the undertone of how he defied her disappointment of him in the past by surprising her with a new side to him this time around…)

The wedding was not what i expected at all… I thought that JinSoo would go with the story that he laid out for her but goodness…. the chaos that ensued was one that i never expected… Morbidly, i was more than amused! That cry of ATATATATATA before he went berserk must have did it…

Again, i am of a different opinion from others about how Eunyoung hurt JiWon intentionally by this incident… I guessed in the end, Eunyoung just saved them both the trouble of a divorce… After all, how long can a relationship last when you’re only settling? I think another lesson that Coffee House has imparted to it’s viewers is the concept of “If it’s not meant to be, it’s not meant to be…” No matter if things are bright and sunny and seemingly perfect, if the person is not meant for you, things would still go awry no matter how long you wait for them or how long you plan it…

He may have hurt now but i guess it’s better than both of them hurting each other more if they stayed together… and just like typical JiWon the ending proved how maybe this time around, he might have also found someone that’s meant for him… (He did make me cry during the scene where he was confronting Eunyoung about JinSoo… i can soooo feel his sincerity and i was just wishing how there could have been two of EunYoung so they’d have one each)…

That confession in Jail was sooo typical JinSoo… I like how he was giving her all these logical explanation for the things that he did at the wedding and then in the end, he gave her the reason that mattered most of all… Bluntly… straight to the point… Without the trappings of flowery words because it is a feeling that defies explanations… I literally felt my heart squeeing when this happened…

And the contract… OMO the contract! Be still my heart! That was such a cute proposal! Jinsoo! You sweet, crazy, romantic man you! (Okay! That did it… I’m now onboard the Kang Ji Hwan train! He’s my old Kactor but new oppa discovery for 2010! That’s it, i’m out of the closet!)

As much as JinSoo meeting Seung Yeon served a purpose towards him confronting his fear and finally reaching his happy ending, i think she also met him for a purpose…

He gave her her FIRST REAL taste of what TRUE LOVE really is like and along with it her first heartache, he mentored her, toughened her up, showed her the ropes, prepared her for the REAL life outside of the Coffee House that her family owned… In short, JinSoo led SeungYeon on her journey towards growth and becoming a matured adult…

It was bittersweet but they have truly helped each other in a lot of ways… (Just to share, she was the one who made me cry big time in the last episode… i can so feel her pain but i also love the fact that she has acceptance of the truth that her love for JinSoo can never be and i guess that is the first big clue of how much she has really matured because of him…)

Glad that in the end, she was shown that she seemed to have moved on and that DongWook has some semblance of a chance now with her along with all the others who all had their happy ending…

As for my EunSoo couple, they have no end for they are timeless… Their love binds them and with that i know that no matter what happens they can weather anything because they were able to prove their love amidst the most adverse of circumstances…

(That whole Page 2-5 segment at the end is enough reason for me to say that spending 18 hours watching this drama was worth it!

I was smiling like a loony the entire time and once again! No lip presses for this couple… Only hot passionate ones that make even the tenderest of kisses seem sooooo doggone sexy! Definitely getting this drama on DVD so i can repeat it over and over again!)

Now, on to the slew of the next dramas with Playful Kiss leading the race in my heart for most expected and hopefully they will be as good as this one or of Prosecutor Princess!
