Flames of Desire Eps 7-8

Sheesh… the plotting and scheming going on in this drama…

I have no doubt that the women of FOD can probably take over the world if left to their own devices…

The catfights and barbed remarks are flying left and right this episode and i say the gloves are off!

(Na young’s playing the fool act is such a riot and i can’t help but laugh whenever Ae Ri gets soooo annoyed with it as Na Young basks in her victory… i think i’d take up this technique if i’m annoyed with someone… )

And who says that women are the weaker sex?The men in this show appear to be mere puppets who are under the control of their wives as they all vie for power using different underhanded ways to have a piece of the pie in controlling their fathers business and to think that they are just in one family!

Money is indeed the root of all evil!

Storywise, there is not a lot of plot movements going on for Episodes 7-8 except for letting us know how Min Jae’s real mother is alive and in touch with him and also to show us a bit of what In Ki’s past was like before she made it big…

I believe that the writer is using these episodes as main fodders for setting up possible plot twists that may happen later on in the series but that is not to say that these two episodes were boring

Far from it…

I know that here i go again raving about the actors making up this series but I really can’t stop gushing about the acting chops of the ensemble in this drama…

Their charisma literally emanates from the screen rendering you spellbound for the next hour that you spend watching it that you barely even notice if there is really nothing much that is happening in the story…

It’s weird though how i absolutely adore Seo Woo as an actress but her character here as In Ki gains absolutely no sympathy from me…

I guess it is because she seems so unreasonably angry all the time and i just can’t understand where that anger is directed at or where its coming from…

True, that she might have grown up on the streets and lived a tough life but i say, isn’t that a path that she took of her own choice?

I would perhaps understand her character better if she grew up in a dismal family situation… but Jung Sook, despite the fact that she is not her real mother was so loving towards her when she was little that it doesn’t justify how she can stow away, choose to die and live the life she is living now, just because she thinks her father is a murderer?

It seems so over the top in my opinion…

Well, is it perhaps because she is Na Young’s daughter that’s why she is the way she is but also because this is a makjang that everything has to be exaggerated?

Go figure…

There was one scene though where i saw In Ki’s vulnerability where i felt just a teeny weeny bit empathetic towards her character…

That scene when she was confronting the man who was blackmailing her stirred my emotions just a little but it didn’t last very long since once again, i thought how she could have had a far more peaceful life if she only stayed with Jung Sook..

In contrast, Min Jae’s character is really sooooo pleasant (albeit a tad boring) that he seems like the only ray of sunshine in this dirty, dirty world of double crossers and greedy family members sorrounding him…

He is such a nice young boy and i literally feel the tone of the whole story lighten up and become hopeful just by seeing him on screen…

There is however such an Oedipal connection between Na Young and him and it scares me and saddens me to think how she is controlling his life so obsessively that i would have mistaken her for being in love with him if only they were not mother and son… (now, that’s makjang!)

However, the fascination he has with In Ki and the contrast between their background and character plus their hidden past is what makes the series worth looking forward to in days to come in my opinion…

As for Na Young, i really can’t read what’s going on in her mind… Does she really love Young Min or is she after Dae Sang?

With the ending of Episode 8, i am starting to think that Ae Ri’s lover will play a pivotal role in her life and i just can’t help but laugh at the fact how she can forego real sex in exchange for money and power because frankly speaking just  the thought of these two seem to be able to get her off as it seemed to be her greatest aphrodisiac…
