Queen of Reversals First Impression

Nothing sucks donkey balls more than office politics…

The thought of kissing @ss, bowing and scraping and acting minion like just to get to the top are words that are foreign to my vocabulary…

I have no sympathy for people who rely on such acts rather than on their own talents and skills just to be able to jockey for a prime position in any organization…

On the other hand, those in power who use the same to their advantage is no different…

Which brings me to the reason why i hate Baek Yeo Jin’s character as much as i hate Sang Moo Nim in this series… (uber red lipstick bleeding all around the edges not withstanding)…

Queen of Housewives was such a welcome surprise to me last year that’s why i was anticipating this sequel with the greatest of excitement…

Though I’m glad to see that it had the same undertones and it has almost the same premise… For now, QOH still has my bet for being the better version judging from initial episodes that i’ve watched of QOR…

(The characters in this series appears washed out as compared to QOH…

Choi Chul Ho’s character in QOH alone is unparalleled…

I have yet to see someone who would steal this offshoots thunder the way he did but maybe then, i’m speaking too early…)

However, that is not to say that this show is without it’s merits…

I like how the show started with Tae Hee’s past life before bringing us to the present to show the disparity between the life she was living then and the life that she is living now and how it reflects that sometimes we make choices that really turns life as we know it upside down…

I really appreciate strong women characters and i’m glad to see that Tae Hee is one…

The way that she stalked Joon Soo and set her radars on him like a woman on a mission might be Fatal Attraction much to some but i say, this is the 21st century and women has as much right to make things happen just as much as the men does especially when the biological clock is ticking…

(And how career woman is that that instead of boasting about her beauty, she uses her bank books as a ploy to lure him in?)

However, it’s still sad to note how this show depicts reality where some people still believe that a woman can not handle a career and have a flourishing love and family life at the same time… (Note to them: Watch Flames of Desire… the housewives have all the power)

But like i said, a lot is still bound to happen so though i am not exactly wowed by the first episode…

I think i’m in for the long haul…

As for the other characters, I have never been more annoyed with a second lead the way i am with Yeo Jin… (seriously i just want to kick her face in!)

That whole opening paragraph up there? It’s a perfect description of her conniving ways and i am rubbing my hands and smacking my lips in anticipation of her potential comeuppance when she finally gets what she deserves…

(The backstory between her and Jong Soo sure does make up for a pretty interesting conflict i bet later on in the series)…

That ending scene in episode 2 really feels like a bittersweet vindication because i was LITERALLY cringing when Tae Hee stayed at that company despite the fact that they are embarassing her to no end… (I would have cried bloody murder if that were me from day on or probably go on a one woman strike if i went through the same thing!)

If there’s one gripe that i have though which i can’t let pass that easily it is the fact that this show seems to be underutilizing Park Shi Hoo…

After his awesomeness in Prosecutor Princess, i think he really deserves more face time than what he is currently getting…

All in all, i think Queen of Reversals for its first two episodes is a pretty steady watch…

It made me snicker but not laugh, teary eyed but not that emotionally invested and though Kim Nam Joo and Jung Joon Ho are sure winners when it comes to dramas of this genre, i am still waiting for that eureka moment when i’d anticipate the next episodes of this series just as much as i did its predecesor…
