Queen of Reversals Ep 3-4

Now, we’re talking…

I definitely liked episodes 3-4 of this series much better and i am starting to feel a connection with its characters and it is a feeling that’s quite welcome given how much i like the actors that are in this series and how much i’ve been expecting all sorts of goodness coming from it…

It is still not the best drama that i’ve seen so far but at least there’s progress in the story and it is improving so i’m still very much in on the QOR train and very much open to liking it more in the episodes to come…

In this installment, we get to see the change in Tae hee and Joon Soo’s life as the years take a toll on their marriage and how this little thing called…you know… LIFE has contributed in taking the edge off of all their romantic ideals…

It was somehow so real and yet a bit sad to note how much things have changed from when their relationship was new and fresh and so promising that they are so sure that they’d make it through whatever obstacles fate might throw at them as long as they have each other to how they have become the surly, squabbling couple that they presently are…

Sadly and as we all in the real world know… Life does sometimes work out that way and no matter how in love two people are and how much of a good thing you think your marriage is,  crap happens and suddenly there are more important things to think about and prioritize than making googly eyes at each other, like who’s going to pay what and how to get food on the table and in the process love gets pushed on the wayside…

Not that the love is any lesser…

Far from it…

It’s just that you learn to show the love in far more different ways like perhaps understanding your wifes frustration and taking all the blame for the southward direction that her life has taken even to the point of your pride taking a beating like what Joon Soo is doing…

It’s not the most ideal of situations, yes, but marriage is somehow like that…

How it’s all about the bad with the good, the happy with the sad and i think in this sense, the drama is pretty much depicting the REAL life of some REAL husbands and wives all over the world…

Let’s admit it… Coming from the life of a top junior executive who has the world in the palm of her hands to suddenly becoming a stay at home housewife complete with the apron and feather duster is really tough change for Tae Hee…I understand her frustrations and her need to find somebody to blame and who else is a better candidate than her husband whom she gave up the said former life for?

( I can soooo understand her when she saw Yeo Jin at the grocery store wearing ugly duds and getting embarrassed about it… Women really have to be dressed for battle if we want to get the upper hand…

We’re just wired that way… and while we’re on the subject, can somebody please, please bring back Kim Nam Joo’s long hair back and get rid of that atrocious ajumma haircut…

It does not mean that just because she became a housewife she lost her sense of style as well… I’m just sayin’…)

However, despite that shortcoming, what really makes me admire Tae Hee is her ability to be resilient…

To bounce back from lifes adversity and to face it head on and to be the motivation and driving force that her husband needs at times when he really really needs it…

I found myself teary eyed at certain parts of these episodes especially when Joon Soo seem to be pulling all the stops just to be able to keep his job…

A layoff especially in your latter years is really a scary thing and a dim prospect most especially if you have a family that relies solely on you…

(On the other hand, this is really where that saying do not do unto others what you don’t want to be done unto you comes to play…

Who knew that the person Joon Soo use to bully while in service would be the person who in the future would have the power to push him over the edge or pull him back depending on his fancy?

*shrugs* What goes around comes around…)

Yeo Jin’s character is really fast becoming one of my most hated kdrama villains ever… Not that she was as bad as Inhee from Personal Taste or Mama Kang from BOF but there’s just something about her gloating face that makes me wanna smack her to kingdom come…

Her and Sang Moo Nim together!

I have never wanted a character to feel vindicated as much as i do Tae Hee…

I am sooooo itching for it that while watching this series i found myself absolutely seething just so she can show everyone the stuff that she’s made of…

That it will be soon when the situation would be reversed and that she’d have the upper hand and if that happens i will be absolutely happy to see Yeo Jin and Sang Moo Nim eat dirt and grovel at her feet because really… that is the sort of comeuppance that is due to the lot like them…
